SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports massage is not just for sports people. Anyone can injure themselves.

Tension, stress and  imbalances build up in the muscles during our daily activities at work or at play.  These tensions put pressure on tendons, ligaments, muscles, fascia and joints which, in time, may lead to pain and injury. Sports Massage uses advanced stretching techniques and soft tissue manipulation to relieve pain and discomfort, improve mobility and aid recovery from injury.

Whether you are a serious athlete, keen sports person or just want to remain as active as possible, this treatment is invaluable for improving posture, increasing muscle flexibility and relieving aches and pains whilst offering simple exercise solutions to help increase recovery time and prevent future injuries.

On your first visit expect to give a full medical history as well as provide an account of how you have injured yourself and what you hope to gain from the visit.  This will be followed by an examination, usually involving a basic postural analysis as well as active and passive movements, strength tests and range of movement tests.  Treatment will be based on your condition and examination findings.  This will be followed by appropriate and specific advice and exercises to aid recovery and realign the body.

Your first treatment will be a minimum of 1 hour. Subsequent treatments can be from half an hour up to 2 hours, with the 2 hour treatment incorporating relaxation techniques to provide a therapeutic experience which is hard to beat!
